Feltiella acarisuga – Gall Midge

How It Works: Adult Feltiella acarisuga emerge from the pupae and deposit their eggs in the spider mite colonies. After emerging from the eggs, the larvae consume the spider mites. 

Target Pests: Controls all stages of spider mites.

Best Use: In spider mite hotspots. 

Shelf Life: within 1-2 days of receipt.

Important Information for Use:

  • Activation Time: This product begins feeding on spider mites 14-21 days after introduction.
  • Not for Prevention: It should not be used as a preventative measure against spider mites. A sufficient spider mite population is required for reproduction.
  • Environmental Conditions: Requires humidity levels above 70% for optimal performance.
  • Activity Cycle: Gall midges are active at night.
  • Chemical Sensitivity: This product is highly sensitive to chemical treatments. Use Koppert One to check compatibility before use.

Step 1: Arrival 

Upon arrival, please ensure that you place the product out immediately or within 1-2 days of receipt. Do not store the product in the refrigerator; instead, place the buckets in a cool, dark location at around 14°C until use.

Step 2: Placement 

Make a hole in the lid and place the container in your growing space. Protect against sunlight and water. Leave the container in place for at least two weeks.

Step 3: Repeat Applications

To keep this predatory gall midge in your crop, you will want to introduce additional bottles on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

What to Expect Upon Arrival:

  • Buckets will be packed in a protective eco box with ice packs and buffer packs to ensure safe transport.
  • You may notice little movement upon arrival. This is normal, as the pupae may not have hatched yet during transport.
