Aphidoletes aphidymyza – Gall Midge

How It Works: Adult Aphidoletes aphidymyza emerge from the pupae and deposit their eggs in the aphid colonies. After emerging from the eggs, the larvae consume the aphids. 

Target Pests: Controls all stages of aphids.

Best Use: In aphid hotspots. 

Shelf Life: within 1-2 days of receipt.

Important Information for Use:

  • Activation Time: This product begins feeding on aphids 14-21 days after introduction.
  • Not for Prevention: It should not be used as a preventative measure against aphids. A sufficient aphid population is required for reproduction.
  • Environmental Conditions: Requires humidity levels above 70% for optimal performance.
  • Activity Cycle: Gall midges are active at night.
  • Chemical Sensitivity: This product is highly sensitive to chemical treatments. Use Koppert One to check compatibility before use.

Step 1: Arrival 

Upon arrival, please ensure that you place the product out immediately or within 1-2 days of receipt. Do not store the product in the refrigerator; instead, place the bottles in a cool, dark location at around 14°C until use.

Step 2: Placement 

Open the bottle in the designated area you wish to treat. Do not scatter the contents. Place the bottle directly on the soil or rockwool slabs, or hang it in between the plants. Once they have emerged, the adult gall-midges will leave the bottle and spread. It will take 14-21 days to see the larvae in the crop. The adults will be difficult to see as they are nocturnal.

Step 3: Repeat Applications

To keep this predatory gall midge in your crop, you will want to introduce additional bottles on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. 

What to Expect Upon Arrival:

  • Bottles will be packed in a protective eco box with ice packs and buffer packs to ensure safe transport.
  • You may notice little movement upon arrival. This is normal, as the pupae may not have hatched yet during transport.

Most of our products contain living organisms; therefore, we must follow specific procedures to guarantee their safe transportation from our door to yours.

All orders received before Wednesday (3:00 pm EST) will ship the following week. We guarantee the product will arrive before end of day Saturday.

If there is a holiday the ship day will be delayed one (1) business day.

Orders are not shipped or delivered on Sundays or holidays.
